INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY CONSULTANT (CAREER
SKILL LEVEL) - 2 POSITIONS AVAILABLE, JOB CODE #2004-0039 - OFFICE
OF DISTRIBUTED LEARNING: Full-time, temporary,
"exempt" positions through July 31, 2005 (with the
possibility of extending appointment based on available funding.) Salary:
$3,915.00 to $8,013.00 per month. Work Schedule: Monday through
Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Duties: Under the supervision
of the Director of the Office of Distributed Learning, the incumbent will
work cooperatively with the faculty to design instructional materials for
distance learning courses. In cooperation with the software and server administrator,
the incumbent will ensure functionality and proper operation of all course
sites. The incumbent will facilitate the development of online courses via
text, graphics, video, audio and any other media necessary using Blackboard,
an online course management software tool. The incumbent will also assist
in the preparation of training materials and delivery of distance instruction
in the software applications used to develop online courses. The incumbent
will provide technical support and assistance to faculty involved in the project.
The incumbent will respond to faculty and administration requests for computing
information, purchasing procedures, and requisition assistance. Qualifications:
Applicants must possess the equivalent to a four-year degree and two years
of related experience. An MA or MS in Education, Instructional Technology
or their equivalent in a related field is preferred. Applicants must have
experience in creating and designing instruction, primarily in a web-based
environment. Experience teaching at the post-secondary level is essential,
along with experience assisting post-secondary instructors with instructional
technology. Applicants must have excellent oral and written communication
skills. A demonstrated knowledge and ability in the full cycle development
process of a series of web pages is required along with a working knowledge
of HTML and editing tools such as Dream Weaver. Applicants must have fluent
knowledge of MS Office products and their relationship to HTML conversion
is required. The ability to analyze problems and make appropriate recommendations
is required, along with both the ability to work cooperatively with faculty,
staff, administrators, and campus agency representatives. Experience editing
digital video is highly desired. The ability to supervise a student assistant(s),
with regard to assigned projects, is essential along with the ability to write
effectively, analyze situations accurately, and adopt effective courses of
action. The ability to work within a university setting is essential along
with a thorough knowledge of computer technology and its application in educational
settings. Current employees will be given preferred
